Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Awards Traffic Safety Grant to Helen Police Department
The City of Helen, Helen Police Department is pleased to announce it has received an $8,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). There were a limited number of agencies being awarded this grant across the state and Helen Police Department was one. These grants are awarded based upon the partnership with The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety in helping to equip patrol units with mobile data units which will help to facilitate the electronic reporting of all traffic crash data.
The grant will help finance the purchase of mobile data units for the patrol vehicles, which will allow for a faster reporting of crash data to the state repository. Mobile data units will assist in mobile crash reporting, incident reporting, and electronic ticketing as well as reduce paperwork and allow the officers to be more efficient in their job performance.
