In May of 2016, the Helen Police Department and the Helen Fire Department worked together and started a Learning for Life Explorer Post. The Helen Public Safety Explorer's Post 6545 meets every other Thursday at 6:30 pm, alternating meeting places between the Police Department and the Fire Department. The Exploring program allows youth age 14-20 learn and train in both firefighting and law enforcement. The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at  6:30 pm at the Helen Police Department.
