Helen is Open

The City has had numerous calls asking if the City is opened for business. We are happy to announce that the majority of the town was unaffected by the recent flooding of the Chattahoochee River. The river is inside its banks again, and everyone is doing a tremendous job cleaning up the affected areas. All roads within the City are currently open including Georgia Highway 75/17 which runs from Helen to Hiawassee. The downtown district was unaffected by the high waters, and businesses are opened and ready for visitors. Helen Water Park will be closed until the clean up is completed. Tubing Companies will reopen when water levels are safe.  Again, the City is open and ready for you to come and enjoy it.
